Lolli and Pops
Packaging | Lettering | Illustration | Signage
Lolli and Pops is a high-end candy shop headquartered in San Francisco with locations all over the country featuring a vast array of sweets from artisan chocolate to long lost vintage candies from yesteryear. Through both freelance commissions and as a designer with Maker NY, I created a variety of custom designs, lettering, illustrations, and packaging concepts for Lolli and Pops candy lines. I also designed custom in-store signage for store locations in Seattle, WA as well as Las Vegas, NV.
Specialty Truffle & Bon Bon Boxes
For a specialty line of truffle boxes, I designed custom lettering that conveyed the mood of the flavor and style of each series. These fun boxes were featured in many blogs and gift collections, including stores like Anthropologie.
This line of bon bon chocolate boxes featured an illustration framing system. I created each box bellyband with a linear pattern that followed the theme of its occasion, i.e. balloons for “birthday” or trumpets and confetti for “congratulations”.

Easter Candy Fabergé Egg
A candy Fabergé egg is tin shaped like an egg and filled with chocolate. Rather than decorated in an antique style to resemble a traditional Fabergé egg, Lolli and Pops wanted to feature a storybook style illustration that captured an Easter spirit.

Fillable Candy Jars
Lolli and Pops had a bulk candy section in their stores where customers could fill jars with candy like gummy bears, malt balls, and more.
I was tasked with creating Easter-themed jar concepts. The design on the far left was approved for final manufacturing.
Cotton Candy Packaging
Lolli and Pops had a line of specialty cotton candy packaged in easily resealable tubs. Initially the company was considering whether to create custom packaging for each flavor or to stick with a more standard repeatable packaging system. They chose the latter, featuring a simple, unique icon on each tub.

Chocolate Egg Packaging
Lolli and Pops had an existing chocolate egg product that was dragon-themed and wanted to expand the line into other fantasy creatures. I was tasked with creating concepts for a “Golden Goose” egg that would be printed in gold foil on a transparent acrylic shell-top box. Shown here are two concepts.
Turkish Delight Packaging
Turkish delights are a traditional Turkish candy made from a gel of sugar and starch that's been a staple of Turkish cuisine for centuries. Lolli and Pops wanted to create packaging that honored this tradition that was also in-line with their modern style.

Initial packaging sketch concepts and the final approved die-cut paper bellyband packaging.
Greeting Card Design
In addition to candy packaging, Lolli and Pops also occasionally produced custom gifts and greeting cards. Shown here are a few of my greeting card designs for Mother’s Day and Valentines Day.
Custom Store Interior Signage
A unique feature of Lolli and Pops stores was custom hand-lettered signage throughout the interior of their spaces. For one of their early locations in Washington, I was commissioned to design and execute chalk lettering for multiple signs. For a later location in Nevada, I created the signage design and oversaw the hiring of local artists to handle on-site implementation. These designs included the main wall behind the cashier counter as well as a fun self-serve gelato station in a corner of the store.
